Like Mother Teresa says...

"Life is a game, play it."  This is something you NEVER have a tell a cat. Cats live to play!

Anything can be a toy in their eyes...a sock lifted from the laundry hamper to a carefully chosen cherry from your fruit bowl to the brand new roll of toilet paper you just put out.  Cats see the potential for fun in everything and never hesitate to enjoy themselves.  My Miguel can attest to that...

Most kitty toy boxes contain a tantalizing variety of furry mice, fluffy balls and feathery birdies that become part of their make-believe hunting world.

But, you don't have to break the bank to keep kitty in playthings.  Much fun can be derived from simple things you have around your house.  A paper grocery bag with a few holes cut in it will provide the perfect "hiding place" for the start of many hunting games.

One of my Paper Bag Princesses, Miss Petula, demonstrates how fun it is to hunt the "Plastic Prey" on the other side of the bag.  Straws, in whole or in part, are a Cat Woman of Roncesvalles staple in creating interesting "prey" to attack.  Because of their light weight, they move with little effort and the sound they make while trying to "escape" is tantallizing, so I am told >^..^<

Most kitties want to be involved in the creations of their toys and games and Miss Petula is no exception...

2 straws tied together and hung by a piece of twine is downright irresistible!  "Must bat this flying plastic foe!!"  exclaims Miss P....

Add a piece of tissue paper to the mix and you have a whole new game!  Nothing is more attractive to a cat as their "prey" disappearing under something.

"You can't escape me....I am a mighty huntress!  GOTCHA!!"

Dear Miss Petula, you look so sweet and domesticated but you are only a couple of straws and a piece of rope away from being a wild lioness in the jungles of Africa....I can see it in your eyes.....

So, next time you're about to toss out a paper bag or a straw....think twice and make your kitty a jungle adventure.  Purrrrrrr....ROAR!
