Let’s Get Knittin’ (Beginner Class)
Let’s Get Knittin’ (Beginner Class)
Dish Cloths at Crown and Press - A beginner’s knitting class, supplies included!
Friday February 7, 6pm to 9pm
Was your New Year’s Resolution to get our more, meet new people and learn a new skill? Well, The Cat Woman of Steeltown/Steel Fluff Productions has your back! Join me for an evening of fun at the Crown and Press Coffee Shop, 303 Ottawa St.N and learn the basics of knitting…casting on, casting off and practicing the basic knit stitch. Project No. 1 will be a coaster, made with thick yarn and larger diameter needles…great for absolute beginners! Project 2 will be Dish Cloths, the ideal learner’s project…make a mistake or 2, your sink full of dishes won’t care! Plus, washing up with something you made with your own 2 hands will put a smile on your face…I guarantee it! Learning the purl stitch is the third component of my beginners lesson. Again, the coaster and the dish cloth are the best ways to learn the art of knitting AND purling. I will tailor the instruction to your particular beginner needs. If you’ve attended other “Let’s Get Knittin’” evenings of mine, I’ll pick up where you left off at the previous class. Newcomers will start with the basic coaster project to start.
Instruction, yarn and knitting needles will be available for use at each class. You will receive a take home “How to” handout and pattern(s). Need a set of my homemade chopstick needles and a small ball of yarn to take home and practice? I’ve gotcha covered! If you want to bring your own needles, 7mm to 7.5mm is ideal for the coaster and 5mm to 6.5mm for the dish cloths. No knitting experience needed!
Be sure to bring a little cash and grab a cup of tea or coffee, glass of wine/beer or a tasty snack from the fine folks at Crown and Press, our kind host for this event.
