Let’s Get Knittin’ and Purlin' - A trio of Dish Cloths Patterns (Coaster option)

CA$25.00

Dish Cloths at Crown and Press - A beginner’s knitting class, supplies included!

Friday March 21, 2pm to 5pm…I can stay later to 6pm, if you need to come a titch later

Was your New Year’s Resolution to get our more, meet new people and learn a new skill? Well, The Cat Woman of Steeltown/Steel Fluff Productions has your back! Join me for an evening of fun at the Crown and Press Coffee Shop, 303 Ottawa St.N and learn the basics of knitting…casting on, casting off and practicing the basic knit and purl stitches.

This class will be Dish Cloths, the ideal learner’s project…make a mistake or 2, your sink full of dishes won’t care! Plus, washing up with something you made with your own 2 hands will put a smile on your face…I guarantee it! I will tailor the instruction to your particular beginner needs. Never knit a stitch in your life…the Garter Stitch cloth will be perfect for you! Learned the knit stitch but need to learn the purl stitch, my Stockinette pattern is the ticket! Feeling ambitious? My Broken Rib pattern is a great way to start to see what designs these simple stitches can make. If you’ve attended other “Let’s Get Knittin’” evenings of mine, I’ll pick up where you left off at the previous class.

And, if the dish cloth seems a little daunting and you want to smaller project as your first ever foray into the world of knitting, I can get you started with a coaster, instead of the cotton dish cloths. Made with thick yarn, larger diameter needles and less stitches to complete the project, coasters are a great place to start as an absolute beginner.

Instruction, yarn and knitting needles will be available for use at each class. If you have knitting needles of your own, bring them along…it’s always nicer to knit with needles that you are comfortable with. I will also have some knitting needles for sale…some new, some “experienced” needles. $5 a pair.

Be sure to bring a little cash and grab a cup of tea or coffee, glass of wine/beer or a tasty snack from the fine folks at Crown and Press, our kind host for this event.
