George H. Pendleton is a dapper feline who has visited every prominent court and country on the globe. But he did not do it alone. His best pal Sherman was along for every adventure! Now you might find it odd that a cat should befriend a mouse but here is how it happened. George met Sherman at a Geography lecture at Oxford University. George had the money and connections to attend this prestigious school but he didn’t always have the work ethic. Now , Sherman, he was a very exceptional mouse and attended all of George’s classes…not officially because he didn’t have the money. But he snuck into classes and hid under George’s chair, with his tiny piece of lead from a pencil to take down notes on small pieces of match boxes that he found around campus. George occasionally fell asleep during lectures and Sherman would gently touch George’s leg to keep him awake. It was during one of those nudges that George first saw Sherman. Sherman was sure George was going to gobble him up so he presented George with the notes from the lecture he slept thru. A grateful George could see right off the bat that Sherman was an educated creature and might be able to help him with his studies and Sherman just loved to learn and discuss all that he learned each day. They became best friends! Thou Sherman was not an official student of Oxford, when George graduated, Sherman felt that he had received a degree too! They planned to use all they had learned and travel the globe, Sherman always in George’s breast pocket. Bosom buddies to be sure!
